Lense and microphone of a video camera were covered with rubber tape and wadding. It was wrapped into blankets in a dark and silent room and a recording was made. Afterwards the video and audio information were heavily amplified, so that noise did appear. It emerges due to tiny currents in the digital sensor – the so called “dark current”. Exactly the same phrase is used for nerve impulses in the human perceptual system, which also emerge in the tiny scale between atoms of the nervous system. We sense these signals as noise, in situations when it is absolutely dark and silent. The work deals with the perception of nothing at all, when there is no input from outside the body but still sensations keep showing. In this noise the material of the medium appears.
